Two kinds of work, kept side by side on purpose: long-running research programmes, and the tools built so that other people can do the analysis themselves.

Research streams

Land reform in Kazakhstan Justus Liebig University Giessen · PhD research Thirty years of land-allocation reform evaluated across 200 rayon-level units.

Rayon-level administrative statistics are combined with geospatial measures of land cover, climate and vegetation. The pasture privatization natural experiment that the PhD thesis evaluates is one part of it.

Land valuation in Ukraine The World Bank · Ukrainian State Cadaster Mass valuation of agricultural and urban land in a data-scarce environment.

The regression-based method for agricultural land was adopted by the State Cadaster; the urban work combines real estate listing data with Cadaster and Registry of Rights records, piloted in Lviv.

GeoPov The World Bank · Global Poverty Department A departmental programme combining microdata with geospatial data to measure spatial income and welfare disparities.

Co-initiated; it also carries the Project Targeting Index into country applications.

Software

peaApp R Shiny application Poverty and equity analysis, packaged so that a counterpart can run it without an analyst in the room.

The country workflows are wrapped in an R Shiny application.

devCEQ R package Scaling up fiscal microsimulation Shiny apps.

devPTIpack R package Project Targeting Index tooling: spatial and micro data combined to improve how development projects choose where to work.
